The experience Dans le Noir ? Brussels at Stanhope Hotel Brussels is above all a sensory adventure.
Without the sense of sight, our guests out of their comfort zone are ready to challenge themselves and their senses during the whole experience in pitch darkness. As we are used to first eat with our eyes, assimilating colors and shapes to the flavors of the food we taste, this moment is an interesting experience to question our ability of guessing the flavors using all the other senses.
For a unique evening, we invite you to use your other senses: the smell, the taste and why not, the touch! (Cutleries are available of course, but you are free to leave it behind as no one can see in the dark!)
The end of the adventure is highlighted by the unveiling of the menu. Our Head Chef Laurent Gauze, proud member of the Académie Culinaire de France, is delighted to create the surprise menu to challenge your tastebuds.
Fun fact: Some of our customers even confuse meat and fish, or even red wine with white wine! It’s always a big surprise when they discover what they ate and drunk once they return to the light.

This sensory experience would not be what it is without our guide-waiters.
More than waiter we call them “guide” because for an evening, our guests slip into the shoes of a visually impaired person. Our guide-waiters will become their eyes and will accompany them throughout the dinner. Chatting with the mis very enriching, they all have incredible life stories to share and have turned their disability into a strength. You could discover how they adapt to everyday challenges. And you, will you be able to fill your glass of water without overflowing and eat in the dark?
